The Next Chapter in Life is Here!

This past weekend Joe and I celebrated our sixth year of marriage. Looking back on all of our time spent together, I feel like we have been on life’s roller coaster. The greatest thing about marriage is the unexpected joys that come up along the way. I’ve had the pleasure of sharing my life and my passions with a man who can understand and relate to me on the deepest levels.

There are many things that I admire in my husband, but some of my favorite qualities he possesses is his kind and unselfish nature. Let’s face it, being married to me isn’t the easiest. I’m an advocate at the purest level standing beside those who no one else wants much to do with. However, when I told my husband that I was going to be involved in these organizations, instead of running, he found his own ways to get his hands dirty especially for causes related to helping children.

He’s ran buses from South Central Los Angeles taking children to see their parents in prison, he’s brought gifts to children Santa forgot about during Christmas, he’s even been part of conversations about race relations between two children being recruited into adversary gangs. Effortlessly when I ask him why he does this, he says, “it’s just the right thing to do.”

Hence, I fall in love with him over and over again. I feel so blessed to have Joe as part of my life. He is my rock and the reason why I’m able to continue to chase the dreams that I believe so strongly. I’m so happy to call him my husband, my best friend and now the father of our baby. That’s right readers, we are expecting. Baby Palmer is arriving late September. Let’s hope for my sake he/she is just as wonderful as daddy!!

Maria!! Congratulations! I’m so happy and excited for you. And Happy Anniversary as well. It sounds like you and Joe are a lovely pair, because what I know of you is as wonderful as how you described him!

Thanks so much Tanya! If I’m half the mom you are, I will be doing very well 🙂
